Genre Two ~ Linguistic, Musical, Visual-Spatial
This genre is designed to convey emotions through imagery, engaging with linguistic, musical, and visual-spatial learners. In this genre I have created a word cloud representing the emotions that Janie feels, the struggles she goes through, and the expectations she demands from her relationship with TeaCake. After suffering at the hands of an emotionally abusive husband, as well as an ill-suited and unsympathetic husband, Janie carries with her a lot of baggage from her past relationships, which she is able to shed as TeaCake provides for her the romance she has been searching for. The image below is created out of words I believe to represent the three most significant influences on Janie and TeaCakes relationships; what she demands of him, what he can provide for her, and what they both want. The structure and colors of this image were also carefully chosen, both hands being black in color to symbolize how race plays a role in their relationship, and both hands reaching for the heart, or love, between them, each hand equally reflecting of the others moments. The words compiling this word cloud are: love, belief, passion, romance, trust, vivacity, stability, responsibility, power, equality, status, image, patience, respect, loneliness, friendship, community, isolation, desire, age, freedom, dedication, faithfulness, support, emotions, sharing, duty, humor, obligation, jealousy, courage, conflict, happiness, kindness, beauty, communication, sympathy, and companionship.
